Smoking

  • Smoking not only causes life-threatening disease, but can make depression worse.
  • Female veterans are found to smoke as much as male veterans. Click here to learn more.
  • 1 out of 2 veterans is able to quit tobacco use. It may take more than one try, but you can quit tobacco.

Mental Health

  • On average only 50% of veterans who need help ask for it.
  • On average 18.5% of service members returning from overseas have post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression.
  • Take this brief quiz to see if you may be having PTSD symptoms.

  • 19.5% of veterans report suffering a traumatic brain injury (TBI) during deployment.
  • Veterans are at high risk for suicide. If you or a loved one is having a mental health crisis, please call the Veterans Crisis Line at 1-800-273-8255, option 1, for help.
